Tulip beading needles are the better beading needles for beadweaving, in short for special beading with rocailles. They are from Japan. The needles have a gold-plated eye which makes it easier to thread the basting thread through. Furthermore, these needles have a blunt point, so that you do not pierce your basting thread if you have to thread through the bead several times. The needles are neatly packed in a glass tube with a cork stopper.
The needles are available in sizes # 10 (short and sharp as well as extra long and not sharp), # 11 (slightly thinner than # 10), # 12 (slightly thinner) and # 13 (extra thin and extra short). For example, # 13 makes securing thread a bit easier. The thinner, the more fragile and more difficult to thread. For weaving we recommend needle # 10 or # 11 as it is thin enough.
